Very cool Rick! At first I thought your carving was just massive wood movement. Still drinking my coffee though, so my eyes haven’t quite uncrossed yet.

You did a really good job Rick! Can you share a bit about your carving and texturing method?

Thank you and sure. After mostly finishing the turning, I carved initially with hand gouges. Drew out the lines for the fluting and then carved. Next, I used a nylon brush in a drill to add the texturing on a carving stand. Thanks again for the comment!

Thanks Rick for your reply. I have just started doing hand carved texturing with a 1/8" gouge. Carving is brand new to me. Quite a learning curve! I'm going to have to try carving green. I look forward to your seeing the results of your second foray.

Thank you. About a year ago, I decided to try carving and also chip carving. Did Mary May course online. Decided that I just didn't love it. Kept some chisels and gouges. Recently, I discovered Liam Flynn's book "Liquid Forms". I am just about blown away with the simplicity and beauty of his work.
