Meteor Crater

I sliced this large piece off a very large Big Leaf Maple Burl. The finished piece measures 36" X 29" X 5.5" thick. The off-center bowl measures 15" X 3.75" deep and was cored with the Oneway coring setup on the outboard side of my lathe. From the center of the bowl to the outer edge is 22" so the swing was 44" The bottom The tenon was turned off using a vacuum system with tailstock and the last nub was sanded off while stationary. As you would expect this work was all done at very low rpm.
