Mesquite Bottleneck Basket

This is a piece inspired by the Native American bottleneck basket style with an added lid. A basket illusion feature was also added on the bottom of the inside. The piece was separated during early hollowing to give access to the inside for beading, inking painting and sealing the work. After the inside embellishment the two pieces were glued back together and the seam is one of the bead lines in the widest outside feature. 9.5" wide and 5" tall.

This is a gorgeous piece! I love the restrained use of basket weave that compliments, but doesn't overwhelm, the beauty of the mesquite. Well done.
