Basket illusion. Apache inspired

8”x4” Maple. Faber Castell artist pen. Tried and True Danish. I may add coats of lacquer but right now I’m done.
Thank you very much Will. This one started as a massive screw up. Ended up with 73 segments instead of 72. It’s a long story. That’s why there is a big black circle for a center section to cover up the mistake. The lighting bolts are a little off but not noticeable. That’s what I had to come up with to fix it. Added the animals and crosses for a little more. 12 to 15 hours in this puppy.
Thanks again!

Very nice. FWIW, I vote for leaving it as it currently is. I don't apply a film finish on my basket illusion pieces. I did it once and I was extremely disappointed in the result. And, there is no way to undo a mistake like that. A real coiled basket doesn't have a varnish or lacquer finish, so why should I do it to my basket illusion pieces?

Thank you Bill, I’ve decided to leave this one as is. I do like a satin film finish on some pieces but that’s just me. For this piece I have to agree.
