Masur Birch Tower Box

When I make boxes, I try to combine my signature shapes with different woods. So, this is a combination I have not turned yet, the tower style turned in Masur Birch (Betula pendula var. Carelica) Of course you guys know Masur Birch is my favorite wood, it cuts so well, sands beautifully, and finishes very smoothly. Details include, a more aggressively sloped curve on the sides, domed lid, and raised foot. Turned, hollowed, and finished with gloss lacquer. Size is 1 3/4" tall x 2" diameter. So, how do you like this more aggressively sloped shape? Comments are always welcome!

I always enjoy your boxes. I wonder if a slightly narrow bottom would be an attractive form, sort of like a flower. The curve would still be concave, but would not be symmetrical. I like the form you used. Please keep them coming, it’s a source of joy for me.

Thank you Jim! That is very kind of you to say!

Love the curve on this one Gabriel! I echo Jim’s thought…..try something new as part of your journey…there’s comfort in going down that road of uncomfortable…I at least tried it!!
