Fairly Useless Platter

Or maybe it’s a shallow bowl. Either way, it won’t hold soup.

Cherry burl with large bark inclusions (wenge pewa) and some bug tracks. Quite a mess. This was the outer core around the bowl I posted earlier.

About 12″ diameter, 2-1/4″ tall.

Looks great and of course its art as it cant hold water :)

Nice ties! It will look great with a fresh out of the oven loaf of hard crust sourdough on it. The crumbs would fall through but hey a winner!

It’s eye candy Dave! I understand the Pewa on the outside (bottom) of the platter (ease of installation). Would you ever consider running them through the platter to make them visible on the business side of the piece? Nicely done Dave!

I don't go all the way through with pewa. I feel like the bottom of the recess (under the "wings") provides better glue surface than just the sides. (Whether I'm right about that or not is another matter entirely. :) )
I have, on occasion, added pewa on the inside of a piece, if I thought it would provide better support (and if I could get the tools in there). This one might display better with a few pewa on the inside - alternated between the others. May think about that...
