NE Maple Bowl

This natural edge Maple bowl has been dyed and I carved four feet. It is about 11" x 7 1/2" x 4 1/2" and finished with Danish oil.
Another nice one, Jim. Curious - how do you protect the bark edge while carving & sanding the base ... assuming it is done off the lathe? Carving jig, vacuum ... pillow? ;)

Thanks for the comments Alan, Odie, and Tom!

Tom, I use a carving jig. It does have vacuum option but as I'm slow, so I taped it to the PVC vacuum chuck in the carving jig.

Don’t know how I missed this one James, it’s beautiful. What dye do you use? I have dye some in the past with alcohol base dye but it will fade if exposed to a lot of UV light.
