A new design for me. Maple burl bowl- 8 x 5 inches. The shape seems to harken back to an earlier time. Iron Age?I felt the design needed rich tones not available in Maple, so used India ink mixed in the DO finish. Round bottom.

From the thumbnail I thought this might be yours. The ink and DO combination is a new one to me. It sure worked out well. And the form and finish really go together well.

I wish I had a good answer, David. My guess would be 20% ink. It seems that I might do better with a different colorant than ink, but it’s what I had on hand. It doesn’t exactly mix/dissolve in. I can see grains of pigment in the mix. I flood the piece and wipe it back to something that looks good to me.
