Stepping in the Same River, Twice

It's always a thrill to be asked to collaborate on a piece with an artist you revere. Dan Zobel recently made a piece for me with only one instruction - "Make it narrative!". I'm on it.

I was stretched creating it with a challenge to burn in the negative space to create positive forms. The grain guided me strongly. Painting the freefalling figures tumbling into the whirlpool inside Dans form was difficult. I had to extend the handle of my burning pens and spend many hours with a brush with just a few hairs. Its good to push yourself, right?

So here is the result. I've been calling it
I'm doing a presentation on surface enhancements and would like to use your piece as an example. Would you be willing to write me at gsponholtz39@gmail.com and tell me briefly something about your proceedure? Like besides woodburning the medium, application etc. It is gorgeous and I would like to let our members know about it. Thank you, Glenn.
