This vessel is turned and carved from a Bradford Pear tree that came down in my neighborhood last year. The piece measures 5”x 6” and is finished with acrylics.
I like that! How thick was it before you started the carving?
David, while green, I turned the small log as a natural edge form across the pith and hollowed the piece to ¼”. The tenon was removed to reduce cracking since the entire piece was then the same thickness. The piece naturally dried to its final oval shape. I hot glued on a tenon to use for indexing and as a handle for initial carving.
