This is the natural progression of exploring the extension of the neck. First developing ways to support the segment while refining the geometry to exact dimensions for assembly. Second and most important to explore new forms available with this technique.
Amazing work Tom. What type of paint and finish did you use? Is that a liming wax also. My wife loves it, and I'd like to try to get the same effect regarding color. Just have done bowls and hollow forms mostly. Still learning. Again beautiful piece!
Do you have a spray booth and three specializes spray guns, a spinning headstock at the spray booth, acrylic airbrush paints and high quality water base clearcoat, two types of uv sprayable finish and uv curing lights. Oh by the way the finish coats of uv finish costs me about $170 a quart delivered to my house! I developed this finish thirty years ago in a past life of woodturning. It was my signature finish but at the time I used spray lacquer and automotive two pack finishes. What you are looking at took me about a year with many dead ends to develop something with almost zero VOCs. It's very high tech and difficult to master but if you put all these things in place I will work with you if you're willing? Thanks for compliment by the way and tell you wife she has very good taste!
