Seed Pod Vessel

This lidded vessel and my other posting were created for the Richmond Woodturners Club 2nd quarter challenge. The challenge was to create a lidded vessel or box with a finial. The vessel was turned from honey locust and I decided to try Kristen Leviers seed pod texture. The vessel finish is matte artist acrylic paint. The lid is walnut and the finial is either katalox or Brazilian ebony and the finish is spray lacquer. The body and lid are also threaded using pvc electrical conduit fittings. The overall height is 7 1/2".
I keep coming back and looking at this. I really like the randomness (if that's a word) of the texturing. The colors are great too.
