Elm Burl Hollow Form

This Elm burl hollow form is about 5” x 4” and the finial adds another 3 1/2”. This was turned green and let warp. It didn’t warp much but the burl area distorted a bit. The finial is made from ebony, it has a long base and just sits in the opening. This is the second finial I made for this, I broke the first one trying to improve it. The jury is still out on this one. The finish is Danish oil.
Thanks for the kind comments! Whenever I make a finial with a slanted top I think of Keith Burns, one of the nicest and talented woodturners I have ever met. His high standards is something to aspire to.
