Mesquite, 10 inches wide, 8 inches tall. The inspiration is a Native American utility basket and Native American blanket patterns. The blanket patterns, especially Navajo, utilize the triangles (diamonds) frequently and there is great significance to the styles and colors. The application is a variation of basket illusion with a little more freehand pyrography for the angles. This piece of mesquite has nice grain features but was temperamental with many cracks and extensive ring shake. 15 turquoise stones imbedded among the three bands.
