Maple Hollow Form

This maple hollow form had a natural crack, which I filled with coffee grounds and CA. I then carved 5 other grooves to mimic the crack, which is what you are seeing in this photo. I must say that when I look at this photo, the finial looks a bit too big in proportion. But in person, I don't get the same feeling. Base and finial are ebonized walnut. Measures 7 inches diam by 11.5 inches tall, finished with Osmo Polyx and buffed.
I like it ... the finial, and how you tried to replicate the elements of the base and the finial. But, I think you could eliminate the base, or perhaps a slightly different version of this one. It might just be the angle of the photo - but, it looks like the vessel is sitting on a pin/dowel. Maybe a disc similar to the one on top could be used to support the hollow form. Maybe you have one, but it just can't be seen in the angle of this photo. Just my 2¢. :)

Yes the base does mimic the finial, including a disk, but the angle of the photo doesn't allow you to see it. Thanks for taking time to study it .
