Small urns

I lost a dear friend to ALS earlier this year. Her two daughters scattered her ashes in a place she loved, but they each kept a small portion and they asked me to make two small urns for them. The one on the right is ash, the one on the left is unknown (opinions welcome on what it is). The stoppers are bloodwood. I cut each piece in two so as to hollow out the insides easily, then glued them back together with a laminate of black/white/black veneerbetween the two halves. They’re about six inches tall. First time I’ve done something like this; it was an emotional and cathartic experience.
Nice work. The black band looks great on these pieces!
