I’ve been experimenting a lot lately with layering techniques, and this piece—Layered Circles—was one of the most satisfying builds I’ve done in a while.
It’s made from Catalpa wood and uses three laser-cut layers. The top and bottom layers are cut to remove the circles, while the middle layer removes everything but the circles, so they pop out in relief. When stacked, this creates a sort of optical rhythm that shifts depending on your angle—like a mix between sculpture and shadow play.
Would love feedback or thoughts—especially from anyone who’s tried similar multi-depth builds!
