Black and White Ebony Round Bottom Box

This box is one of my favorites to date and has quite the story! The wood is absolutely stunning, along with a nice form and finish. I brought this box to our biennial OVWG "Turning 2025" symposium over the weekend and I was honored that it was selected by professional turner Pat Carroll as one of four pieces to be critiqued on Friday night. The other pro turners took turns critiquing the piece as well. Turned, hollowed, and finished with buffed abrasive wax. Size is 2" diameter x 1 7/8" tall. Wood supplied by https://greenbergwoods.com/. In the collection of Pete and Shirley Kekel.

Gabriel - this box is a beautiful piece. I want to note for others that there was a whole collection of boxes that you brought to the symposium. A really stunning group when all put together. Congrats on the recognition - well deserved!

Thank you Elizabeth!

Gabe, You had an impressive array of boxes at the OVWG symposium. Pat Carroll said it was hard to choose just one. Congrats on the honor. I got to work with this young man and his brother Ethan during set up and tear down. Hard workers and very easy to talk to. The skills of Gabe and Ethan far surpass their age. Observing their past posts on this site and Segmented Woodturners had had me picturing much older turners.
