Zebrawood stave vase

Have always want to try a stave vase so I had a piece of Zebrawood just big enough for one shot and a single Cottonwood burl that had bought at SWAT 5 years ago. I searched for ideas online and was surprised at how few examples I could find. I finally got inspired by Malcom Tibbetts design in his segmenting book. Now I know why there were so few examples. The compound angles had me channeling my high school geometry teacher. Thank you Mr. VanVliet!
Your reference choice was outstanding Dave; go directly to the Maestro! Those dang fractions of degrees are challenging with staves…pick one angle, easy…that second angle, not so much. Using even numbered staves allows you to make halves and then fit the halves…odd number staves, woohoo!! Jerry Bennett is coming out with Segmentology 2, buckle up…a new way to deal with staves!! Your effort here looks great; nice use of that Cottowood burl Dave!!

Thanks Russ.. One thing that made it more challenging was that videos and documentation from other turners all involved making a sled. Problem is, I don't have room to store a sled. However a few years ago I acquired an Incra 5000 Miter Sled cheap from a fellow turner and had not used it at all. I knew it should work great but couldn't find anything on line to help me setting up the Incra for this purpose. But I knew that once I figured it out the accuracy of the sled would make future setups easy. Took a while but now as soon as I find some more interesting wood, I can replicate pretty easy.
