Beaded White Oak

Once turned white oak so it's a little warped, pith is at bottom. About 11" x 3 1/2" x 1/4" wall. Tung oil
Nice beadwork on this piece - so organic when the beads move with the piece. I've seen a few once turned pieces with wonderful warp, highlighted with beads like this, and am always drawn to them. Oak is not my favorite wood to turn, but the end result can be spectacular, with the medullary rays and figure.

Oak moves a lot that's why I started to do once turned with it, I was having blanks turned to the 10%thickness for roughing out cracking it didn't seem to matter just random cracking, one would crack next one wouldn't. I like when the pith is at the bottom and the sides turn up when warped. I just sand them when dry and finish the bottoms so far good luck with no cracks. When the pith is at the bottom and you turn the bowl 90 degrees to the way this picture is taken the medullary rays look really nice.
