Brown Mallee Burl Tower Box

This box is a little different than my other tower boxes as the lid style has changed. Turned from Brown Mallee Burl (Eucalyptus dumosa, E. viridis) I decided to incorporate a scalloped or "wave like" design on the top of the lid. Other design features include, chamfered edges, a raised foot, and true curved sides. This wood is very dense and difficult to turn without sharp tools, it tends to chip and tear out more than an normal exotic wood. Turned, hollowed, and finished with abrasive wax. Size is 1 7/8" diameter x 2" tall. This piece was the scrap left over from another other tower box I turned last year using this same wood.
