Pau Marfim Covered Calabash

Little one, at 3.25” d and 3.25” h. First time working with this wood, which was a generous gift from @John K Jordan. I have another chunk left, and the m excited to get to it eventually. It is dense, has a lovely scent, and turns/sands beautifully. Dimensions aren’t strict to traditional standards, but I sort of like the rotund body. And if we’re being honest, I intended the body to be about 1/2” taller, but an unruly hook tool had other plans. One last cut… 😉
A few alternative views, including body without lid:

Whoa, this piece is so comfortably rounded it's sensuous, even snuggly. I really like it. But I can also see it with that extra 1/2".

(PS. I've got 3 hook tools, but haven't taken them out since I got a Badger from Mike Hunter. Safer, and they get into the corner much better.)

Thanks everyone. @Dean Center Hunter tools are great! I have a Badger that use for the corners of larger ones. This size I usually just use a hook tool for the majority of hollowing, and then a round nose scraper for finishing and for the bottom-side transition.

BTW I'm up to 22 hearts for this Christmas. I had planned on 6 more from Redwood, but I'd better stop and put up and decorate the tree instead. ;)
