Awakening

This piece was created for our Richmond Woodturners quarterly challenge. It had to be something turned from a tree branch that fell in your yard at least 3" in diameter. We have two Siberian Elms in our front yard and one of them is unfortunately dying. A large branch fell this spring and I was able to salvage a couple good turning blanks. I called this Awakening because it looks like an opening flower bloom.
nice work, has an oragnic feel to it, almost like a seed pod of some sort opening up. I think we can all draw off mother natures designs more, she is such an artist
