This is my Segmented Woodturners chapter holiday swap piece for Jay Schultz. I think I'd had one too many when I turned the stem!
It is yellowheart and walnut, about 8" tall. I used Jerry Bennett's armature method for the stem.
I should have known! I am the fortunate recipient of one of Al Miotke's lovely segmented martini glasses (last year). I don't have the patience or ability to do segmenting but I certainly appreciate the effort it takes to make something beautiful. This hits all the design, technique and quality buttons for me. Well done!

Everyone has the ability to segment, you just need to give it a try. The patience thing would be a good point of discussion though!! I’ve never thought of myself as a patient person….. but some might disagree

Probably true, but it's yet another rabbit hole and one I'm not ready to head down at this point! I can truly appreciate the artistry but I don't think I'll get there...the shop is not large enough!
