Small Basket Illusion Lidded Bowl with ornametal turning inside

This one has been a work in progress for a while now and is only 4" in diameter and turned from cottonwood with a dyed maple 4 sided finial. It has, 3200 tiny 1/16" beads on it that were colored in with India ink and a dip pen. The inside has facets on it that were done with the help of an ornamental lathe. (the lid inside is also faceted, but not shown in the pics). When completed, a lacquer finish was applied. I will say that because of my poor wood choice for this one that it was extra challenging in many different ways, but all in all it was fun to make and for the most part I enjoyed figuring out ways to overcome the challenges.
Poor wood choice, hmm, one wonders how a good choice could change it, looks great as it is.

Thanks, Hughie, i just think i had to work harder than i should have had to achieve these results. Cottonwood just doesn't take a bead real well so that job was more difficult, plus the inside is straight off the tool in order to keep the crisp edges and there were more fuzzy's than i would have liked that i had to gentlle clean up. Also, cottonwood just sucked up the ink and in places i had to color some beads twice. I think if this had been maple or Pear or something more dense it would have been a little easier. Lesson learned, lol. I am happy with the end result though.
