Maple, pyrography, watercolors, India ink. 3"h x 2.5"d. This form is based on Neil Turner's urchin box design, but embellished in quite a different way. The box design is super cool, in that the two parts are connected via a stem that comes from the body and passes through a hole in the top of the lid. Clever and fun to turn! The pattern I used here is based on an illustration of a fox in a book that I read my kids (They All Saw A Cat by Brendan Wenzel). From the first time we read the book, I knew I wanted to make something to match the fox. Fun, and special for me that my kids had an indirect hand with the inspiration.
