Hi Rick, Nate, Thanks for your comments I was amazed that something as ordinary as ash, and this was a pretty unspectacular piece of that could come to look like this! and even better it was fairly easy to do! I used a tiny pencil gas soldering torch to paint the scorching exactly where I wanted it. The only slight flaw was that there was an area of softer grain which caught the heat and blackened leaving spots in places but overall the effect is really interesting.
