Faux Faberge' Egg Inside

Egg turned using shadow turning technique from quilted maple. Leg sawed from maple. Mesh is aluminum flat wire. Gold is from gold leaf gilding. Both halves threaded.
Why did you turn the egg out of quilted maple when you can't see the figure with the gilding? Did the original plan not include the gilding and mesh? Great job, I have never heard of the shadow-turning technique, I think I will try that on spheres! Great job.
 
The plan was to dye the maple with the figure highlighted. Did not work out though. Thanks for the complement.
