I titled this First Bloom since it is the first time I have tried to carve a flower. It is also the first time I tried texturing which was done on the band. I just jumped right in knowing there would be plenty of areas for improvement and learned a lot from this project.
I’m a bowl turner at heart, love turning hollow forms and now like going out of my comfort zone and try a little carving. Once I get comfortable with the carving I’ll add a little color.
This is Birch # 568, 8-1/4” x 9” at the widest point.
