Fluted Elm Flat Rim Bowl

Elm, 10-1/2Dx3T, poly finish 231
I am curious about the worm holes - were they clear of material? I have madrone that is riddled with a burrowing creature, but the bug leaves behind a fairly solid 'excrement'. I say fairly solid because it is difficult to remove but won't reliably stay in place when turning or sanding.
