"Fratres in Armis"

Inspiration is not always a simple ah-HA moment. Sometimes it's a bumpy, winding path.
Started as a lidded jar with a deeply incised surface that has been burned, then aggressively brushed and colored with graphite powder and lacquer leaving a very damaged and dark surface. (A bit inspiration derived from some earlier work from my friend Art Liestman.) I liked the result but had yet to address the top or a lid. After hearing the song Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits while working on this I knew that it needed to be two pieces. Also gave me a clue as to the lids, colors and decoration. 5-3/4" x 3-1/2" and 4-1/2" x 3".
Thanks for looking! This sold quickly after posting. 😊
As always, a very creative and thoughtful work! I really admire your skill and creativity.
