Knot so Hard

This sycamore had an unfortunate knot, so it became an experimental piece for a rim decoration. The repeating knot was designed in a program called Knot3D and the resulting three-dimensional model was cut using the LatheEngraver.

Beautiful way to fix a defect in the wood! I like how it looks like the ropes are actually going behind each other.
