Lancewood (Acacia shirleyi)

This is not the easiest wood to work with as it splits badly. Its generally used to build stockyards as its hard when dry but takes a good finish. The lighter colour is the sapwood, a small vase 6" tall
This is an excellent example of what a turning can look like when one just "lets the wood do the talking" and there is no man made additions put on such a beautiful creation as this. Just great, Hughie!
 
I have done a few of these over the years , they not hard to do but very effective. I appreciate the positive comments
 
Beautifully done Hughie! Isn't it great when the sapwood provides such a wonderful enhancement to a great design.
