Lidded Bowl

Originally intended to be a roly-poly bowl intersecting the conical boundary of branch and trunk grain, but discovered/realized the cone sloped downward, and hadn't defined up or down beforehand on the red oak firewood wedge. It was too late to make the piece I wanted, except as a miniature version, so I made this instead.

Gloss polyurethane was not a perfect choice for the finish. Satin, or EEE and wax, might have been better, because of the highly-figured grain.

6 3/4" high, 5 3/4" diameter (170mm, 145mm).
