Little World

Little World (Escaping With Nature Series)

This little fantasy world globe is 4" in diameter and features land, lake, islands, oceans waves, and waterfalls. I used dyes and resin. The larger blue portions are dyed. By turning the piece with bark on in places, the phloem (highly porous and soft layer just under the bark) is exposed. It has wonderful lines which look like water currents and waves when dyed. On the top is a resin "lake" with 3 waterfalls (acrylic paint).

I oiled the bark "land" with BLO and finished the rest with waterbased poly which I rubbed out with 9 grits of Micromesh.
