Masur Birch and African Blackwood Captured Spin Top

Pure turning fun. @Jaramiah Severns was kind enough to give me a chunk of Masur Birch a while ago. Turns like butter, and has such an interesting grain to it. I decided to use half of it for a spin top--I wanted to make the Birch the star, but also needed to complement it with something quality and heavy, hence the African Blackwood. The pedestal is push fit into a hollow on the interior of the top, and it spins on a hidden steel bearing. It will spin for around 4 minutes. 3"d x 5.5"h.
Some alternative views, and a video of the top in action:

Very beautiful piece Michael! I have always liked working with Masur Birch. The texture on the base is a nice touch of detail as well.
