This turned, carved piece imagines a "modern art" design which might have been produced in the '30s or '40s -- before Bob Stocksdale's work in the '50s gained recognition for turnings as art in North America. It is based on intersecting triangles and is made from only two pieces of cherrywood - one for the vessel and projecting wings and the other for the lid with finial. It' about 7 1/2 inches tall. -- Dick Kelly
