Out In The Tules

Out In The Tules follows my current series of nature images with a combination of pyrography, TransTint dyes, Polychromos oil pencils and surface etching. This one takes another step by using a natural background instead of a dark one which widens the options of image colors. The natural background was etched in a random herringbone patter using a 1mm carbide ball which was time consuming but added a nice visual effect.

The piece is maple, 5 3/4” tall and 4 3/4” wide.
