The box itself is a 60 year old chunk of Ponderosa Pine. It has no finish, I just sanded up through 3800 grit and then polished it. The resin in the wood itself holds a polish nicely so far.
The lid was inspired by Steve McNeil who did a demo at the SWAT convention this year. It is a copper plate hand hammered into a form that I turned to the shape and size I needed. I used my tailstock to keep it in place as I worked and then turned away the excess. I flame colored the coper and then sealed it with spray enamel. The lid is topped with a finial from african blackwood.
