Pot From Banksia

Pot From Banksia

Banksia is a beautiful coloured timber but is quite difficult to work as it is is very open grained and quite soft. I think it suits this project though as I was going for a clay pot feel for the finished piece. This turning is inspired by African clay pots which I like for their rustic ornamentation combined with beautiful forms. 7.7" x 8" Finish is paint and shellac.
You can see it being made here...

Texture and carving treatment definitely gives it a pottery like appearance, well done!

Ya, thats a clay pot...great work on this, could've fooled me, but I viewed the video to see the transition from wood to clay. Wonderful piece, Mark.
