I've always considered purpleheart to be one of the most miserable woods to work with. And I've never tried hollowing it. But I love how you inserted the coins around the opening.
As a side note, there's a trailer manufacturing company near where I live that always has a sign out front for "free wood". They must import something from south of the border that comes on purpleheart pallets because their dumpsters are usually loaded with it. I gave up salvaging it even though it was free.
My wife hates the color. It had a lot of tear out and was not fun. Evidently it darkens to brown with UV exposure but I’ve given away the few pieces I’ve formed before that happened. Thanks.
