Starfish clock

Starfish Clock
Wood: Kauri
Height: 600mm (23-1/2")
Width: 400mm (15-3/4")
One of the projects at this years annual Participation put on by the South Auckland Woodturners Guild (which was a great event by the way) was to make a clock. I think I started a piece that was too big and complicated to finish in the three-day event. I have lost track of the time spent on this piece but I would say about 40 to 50 hours at a guess may have been more.
The piece is turned; front and back, carved then turned some more on the back to relieve to the arms or tentacles.
The starfish is sanded and polished, masked off and the outer part is sandblasted and oiled. The starfish is then polished for the second time.
Comments welcome.
