This piece is developmental. The extended neck makes for a very fragile segment before gluing together. This requires additional reinforcement while refining the geometry. I'm just ok with the form but it just juried into a regional show at the Fitchburg Art Museum in MA. By the way The Fitchburg Art Museum was host to the First National Exhibition of the AAW in 1994 Followed by a second exhibition in 1996. I created this show for the AAW with the Director Peter Tims of FAM and the Central New England Woodturners. See cover story of AAW Journal March 1994 and March 1996.
Congratulations on the innovative form and exquisite finish.

I didn't realize these pieces were segmented, rather I assumed they were turned on multiple axes from one piece. It's clear to me now from the square mouth that they are assembled. Are you cutting the staves from one large diameter turning, or shaping them in some other way? Are the inside walls parallel to the exterior?

Keven I do turn a larger diameter and then cut it into smaller segments. I reassemble those segments into a squarish looking piece. Yes the wall thickness is even at about 3/16".
