Thanks Marty. The shape is turned then grooved with a router while still on the lathe - I built a jig for this. The final shape and cutouts are carved with a dye grinder. The texture is dyed, stained, rasped and sanded with radial bristle disks. Final color is toned with shoe polish. Just guessing - well over 60 hours from start to finish.
