Yard Vessel

9 x 6 Silver Maple hollow vessel. This is from a tree from my front yard that partially blew down this past summer. I went ahead and felled the rest of the tree that was about 5' in diameter at the bottom. This piece has a carved and metallic painted opening with dyed waxed cord embedded in small grooves. It is hard to tell in this photo, but the darker parts are textured with a stippling technique. The only smooth part is the sapwood feature.
