Ziricote Sun Hat Box

This shape is really a challenge to get right, but once it is done, it really is a pleasant shape. Inspired by Ray Key, this small box is turned from Ziricote (Cordia dodecandra) This wood is know for its beautiful patterns resembling a mountainous landscape design or spider webbing. Turned, hollowed, and finished with polished abrasive wax. Care has to be taken as to not fill the pores of the wood with finish, this wood is very pore ridden. Size is 1-1/2" tall x 1-3/4" diameter. I enjoy creating these different shapes, although they do take more time and the potential for error is higher.
