This is the first time I have turned a box in chechem or is it chechen? This box is 2 1/4" tall and 2 3/4" in diameter.

My first box in this wood. Previously I had turned pens and used it in flatwork boxes. This piece has been drying for several years and hopefully will not move as much as some people have suggested. Size is 3" tall and 3 3/4" in diameter.

Thanks to Ray Key for teaching me how to make boxes. I took a seminar with Ray recently, what a great guy, and started making boxes for the first time, I think I'm doing ok thanks to Ray. African Blackwood with desert jasper cabochon. 2"d, 3"h lacquer and wax. All comments, tips...

Here is a box in some wonderful curly bubinga that I was gifted a while back. This box is 2 3/4" tall and 3" in diameter.

The woods are Purple Heart and Macassar Ebony. The size is 3" dia x 3.5" tall. A light coat of Danish oil allowed to dry then buffed is the only finish.

A cocobolo box inspired by Richard Raffan's mosque boxes. This box is 2 3/4" in both directions, sanded to 12000 micro mesh and waxed.

This is my own design. The jar is made from an apple cider jug. It has a music box movement in the lid

4 inches diameter/4 inches high Ash and Walnut. Box was turned on two centers. The main box body was turned first then offset and the actual hollowing was done

This box from some shedua with curl that is hard to capture in a photograph is 2 3/4" tall and 3 1/2" in diameter. Gotta love the way this wood polishes up...

This is a box elder bowl which measures about 8 1/2 inches across. It was rather plain so I decorated it with 18 routed spirals.

Wood Box: Pear Lid: Black Maire Height: 185mm (7-1/4") This is a commissioned piece. The twist on this box is carved using a microplane and files, sanded to 400 grit then polished The textured finish is pyrography. Comments welcome

The box is a fairly early turning for me. I got really LUCKY with the Pagoda-like finial (I was trying for 3 steps, this was all I could get). Tre-wax finish. The box is 3 1/8 inches in diameter by 4 3/4 inches high.

These two started out as pieces of very plain box elder. The slots were routed while the pieces were mounted on the lathe. There are 9 spirals on the right and 6 on the left. The one on the right has a ring left around the top to control things, while the one on the left is a bit more...

Also known as Santos rosewood this little box is 1 3/4" in height and diameter. Turned a little bead on the lid.
