7.25" by 3". Started out as a multi-axes maple globe that was so blah I almost tossed it. After the final flip of the axis there was not enough meat left to get rid of the marks from the head/tail stocks so I made them a tad deeper and epoxied the buttons in after covering the globe...
This shot has four of the pieces from this series, which utilizes layers of gold leaf paste mixed with black acrylic paint, applied with a tooth brush and burnished. The ridges are achieved with a hacksaw blade held in a vise grips. Not OSHA approved.
This bowl to me looks like it's dressed up, and wearing jewlery. It has verigated gold leaf which in real life, sort of complimented the maple's grain, and the bead work is on the inside and outside. It's about 3/32" thick, and about 7" tall
