I'm so pleased to announce that the Maui Woodturners Association has ben awarded a NOVA Comet lathe with a Rikon stand, a chuck and several tools!! Lots of teaching opportunities coming up! We will be able to have hands on workshops, let beginners have a go at it. We will be able to go and do demos in public spaces, such as the Maui Upcountry Fair, we did that last year, with just one MIDI Delta, kids were patiently waiting in line for the tops that we were turning as fast as possible. Some were holding dollar bills, ready to buy them, imagine their smiles when we told them: Free!! We are talking with a High School to do a Woodturning Winterim Course, kids do all kinds of activities. Might be able to get a third lathe, an old General... I will be doubling my shop space soon...
