My name is Al Fletcher. I am 80 years old and have been turning for only about 5 years. My passion is color and segmented work and have enjoyed making a number of pieces in the Michael Mode format. In terms of background, I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps flying helicopters in the 1960s (Vietnam), and after 1 year teaching industrial arts, I spent the next 32 years as a school district administrator. I have built two houses and now I'm retired in Mahtomedi Minnesota and I am an active member in the Minnesota Woodturners Association. When I am not in my shop my wife and I love to travel.
